The Puerto Rico Museum of Art, (MAPR as it is known for its initials in Spanish) is spearheading efforts to rescuing and preserving the island’s cultural heritage in the wake of the emergency Hurricane María has caused.
Looking to contributing to generate changes in vulnerable communities and promote social transformation processes, 20 young people ages 13 to 18 from the communities of Santurce and Río Piedras participated in the “Young Leaders: Artistic Action for the Community” program.
Because “idle hands are the devil’s playthings,” FirstBank and the Puerto Rico Museum of Art took it upon themselves to keep 20 students residing Martin Peña Channel neighborhood in Santurce quite busy for the better part of the summer embellishing one of the community’s main entrances.
